Employers to Access the Kimberley DAMA

 

1.  DAR Endorsement: The first step is to obtain endorsement from the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EKCCI), which serves as the Designated Area Representative (DAR) for the Kimberley DAMA. Employers need to prepare and submit documentation demonstrating their need for overseas workers and how their business aligns with the Kimberley DAMA objectives. The EKCCI will review this documentation, assessing your business operations and local recruitment efforts. Upon approval, you will receive formal endorsement, allowing you to move forward with the next steps.

 

2.  Labour Agreement Request: Once endorsed, employers must submit a detailed request for a Kimberley DAMA labour agreement to the Federal Government. This request should outline the specific occupations, positions, and number of overseas workers needed, and include any special concessions you are seeking. The Federal Government will review your request, and there may be negotiations to finalize the agreement. After approval, you will receive a formal labour agreement, valid for five (5) years and adjustable as needed.

 

3.  Nomination Application: With the labour agreement in place, the next step is to nominate individual overseas workers or recruit new talent based on the pre-approved occupations. If you have specific candidates in mind, prepare their details and ensure they meet the agreement's criteria. Alternatively, you can seek recruits from overseas. Submit the nomination applications, detailing each worker's qualifications and how they fit the approved roles. These applications will be reviewed and approved if they align with the terms of the labour agreement.

 

4.  Visa Application: The final step involves completing the visa application process for the nominated workers. Prepare all required documentation for each visa application, including employment contracts and proof of qualifications. Submit these applications to immigration authorities, ensuring all forms are accurate and complete. The applications will be processed, which may include additional checks or requests for further information. Once approved, the workers will receive their visas and be authorized to work in Australia under the Kimberley DAMA.
