Unlocking Opportunities: South Australia's DAMA

South Australia DAMA

South Australia has recently taken significant steps to enhance its immigration policies, aiming to attract skilled workers from around the globe. An essential aspect of this effort is the expansion of its Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA), creating fresh opportunities for skilled migrants to contribute to the state's diverse economy. This expansion has also introduced 128 new jobs under special agreements for skilled migrants.

What is DAMA?

DAMA stands for Designated Area Migration Agreement, a special arrangement between the Australian government and regional areas to address specific labor shortages. South Australia's DAMA is designed to target skill gaps in key industries, providing pathways for skilled workers to live and work in the state.

What is South Australia's DAMA?

The South Australian Regional Workforce Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) is crafted to address skills shortages across the entire state of South Australia. These agreements now extend until June 2025, offering more nomination spots each year. They also streamline pathways to permanent residency for visa holders. Concessions such as age, English proficiency, and work experience make it more accessible for a broader range of individuals to qualify for migration under this program.

Additional jobs that have been included in South Australia's DAMA

  • Construction and Trades

  • Agribusiness

  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

  • Health, Education

  • Renewable Energy sectors

However, certain occupations are no longer part of the DAMA, indicating a shift in focus or priorities regarding the types of skills and expertise sought under the program:

  • Grape Grower

  • Actors, Dancers, and other Entertainers

  •  Dancer or Choreographer

For skilled migrants considering South Australia, the expanded DAMA offers several benefits:

  • Access to a wide range of occupations in high-demand sectors.

  • Increased opportunities for permanent residency.

  • Concessions and support to meet eligibility criteria.

  • A pathway to contribute to South Australia's growing economy and vibrant communities.

Overall, these changes make it easier for skilled workers to move to South Australia and contribute to its flourishing economy.
